Mother's honest post on parenting goes viral
The self professed ‘mummy blogger’, Mel Watts, has been praised for her honest and open Instagram post on parenthood.
The mother of two started her blog 'The Modern Mumma' to allow “people to see parenting from a different view”, talking about “the good, the bad and the extremely ugly side of parenting”.
“In the last 9 months I have never slept so little in my life. In the last nine months I have suffered my worst anxiety I have ever experienced. Having a new baby is exhausting and life just doesn't stop.” she writes on her Instagram, posting a selfie of her post-baby body alongside.
She further emphasises the importance for parents to look after their own wellbeing.
“The first 9 months of your babies life is filled with guessing, rocking, smiling and crying. The amount of pressure we put ourselves isn't fair. We're humans and we're mothers. It's okay to have days that you don't feel good enough.”
She points out that it is okay to have days where you do not fell good enough.
“You’ve got this,” she writes. “We’ve got this. Some women seem to have it all. Well so we think. Some women don’t. I don’t.”
She signs of with “We are given new obstacles every single day. There's always tomorrow!”
The post received a huge praise, with many mothers sharing their own stories and applauding her uplifting words.
“This has really cheered me up and inspired me. I'm a mother to an 8 month old and 6 year old and not once have I taken them swimming because I have been to self conscious." a reader commented. “Your posts are uplifting.”
